Opening the Door sessions are a great way to get practical advice on how to plan and prepare for independent living. The sessions are available as videos on the RIA website, along with links to some really useful resources.
The Private Rentals session featured speakers from the community housing and financial counselling sectors, the Tenants Union NSW and Shelter WA, and a private renter living with disability. Topics included how to prepare for viewing properties, the housing features you should consider and the questions you should ask, understanding your rights and responsibilities as a tenant and useful tips on how to stay up to date with your rental payments and where to get help to keep your home well maintained.
Well worth a watch if you are thinking about your independent living options!
