Trevor was recruited by the Board to Disability Justice Australia as CEO on the 19th of October 2009. Since then he has led the Board and members through three Constitutional changes which has seen DJA registered as a national organisation with ASIC under the Cth Corporations Act 2001 Sub-section 601CU(I) so we are now a designated Registrable Australian Body Number 629 441 078. We have members in every state and territory in Australia.

He is passionate about protecting and enhancing the human rights of people with disability through the implementation of the UN (United Nations) Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) not just in Australia, but also around the world. He was recognised for his achievements in the June 2022 Queens Birthday Honours list with the Order of Australia Medal (OAM).

Trevor practices what he preaches and enjoys direct service delivery to DJA’s clients, having first-hand personal experience of discrimination throughout Australia and in many parts of the world on many occasions. 

Prior to joining DJA, Trevor was a lecturer in Disability, Youth and Community Services at NMIT for 9 years, after moving from interstate where he was formally trained as a musician, music teacher and finished his teaching career as a Secondary School Principal.

Trevor had almost completed his Ph.D. (Music Education & Disability) when, rather ironically, he was diagnosed with a rare spinal cord condition, which saw him move to Melbourne for rehabilitation.  He has since acquired a bi-lateral sensory neural hearing loss, Meniere’s disease, and Narcolepsy.

Trevor has led DJA to become a national organisation that is on the cusp of bigger and greater achievements.
