Is this a paid position?

Board members have their travel expenses to and from Board meetings and other official functions paid for by DJA when they are carrying out Board business.

Board members also have their meeting meal and professional development expenses reimbursed or paid by DJA.

What are the essential qualities DJA is looking for?
  • Lived experience as a person with disability and over 18 years old
  • Previous experience in governance as a director or member of a Board of directors or Committee of Management is essential
  • Satisfactory Referee, Police Record and Working with Children Checks
  • An approved application for Full membership of DJA
  • A Working with Children Check, and a
  • Directors’ ID issued by the Australian Business Registry Services (ABRS)
  • A commitment to Our Values shown at https://dja.org.au/

If you need to apply for a working with children check, a Director’s ID and a police records check we will reimburse the costs for successful applicants.

Is DJA looking for any particular skills?

how often are meetings?

Board Meetings are held monthly (up to 2 hours) by mutual agreement amongst Board Members, and other Project Sub-committee Meetings may be scheduled as determined by the Board.

Attendance may be in-person or remote / online for members in regional or from interstate areas)
